With vivid storytelling and laser-sharp analysis, writer and critic Peter Bebergal. 'The Whisperer in Darkness,' 'The Shadow Over Innsmouth,' 'The Colour Out of. Koetting, in this masterpiece work, gives the elementary principles. General consensus at r/occult is that Koetting is a pricey whore and snake oil salesman. Despite whether his methods work, he charges exorbitant fees for what should be passed freely from teacher to student. You could probably do all he offers on your own with the right amount of research and dedication.
Greetings everyone! Exams are almost over and i finally found time to post im one of the best example of an occult newbie. I dont follow any one path strictly, indulging in goetics, nap(thnx for the upload nytek), sigils etc etc, read lots of books(pdfs mostly) and the fear of becoming an armchair occultist helps me practice secretly at home sometimes and yes.i go to school too (and study hard) anyways. I tried a goetic evocation today (around 3 hours back), used the pentagram, hexagram, circle, triangle, incense and an oak wand and 2 sigils of Seere.
I had a scrying mirror, but decided to skip it i did the lbrp but skipped the prelim invocation because my folks were gonna be back in an hour and because of the same above reason i also recited a very short conjuration(Illustrated Goetia) while comcentrating on the sigil even though i knew that a long conjuration helps you get into the 'mood'. Then i hurled a few obscenities and godnames at the triangle for a little while, brought a lighter close to the sigil while shouting threats at empty air(or rather smoky air) and then said welcome to the indifferent incense smoke and told it specifically what to do, how to do it,and how i would reward it, etc followed by the license to depart and the lbrp.
Not very magical, i know.besides, i wasnt in a very meditative mood and i dont have any sort of astral vision, as konstantinos or donald kraig recommend(general newbie stuff), though im trying to develop one with a scrying mirror. And no, i dont do psychedelics. Theyre hard enough to come by here as it is. Now, ive read in the goetia that burning the sigil causes the demon pain, but demonolaters burn demonic sigils as a sign of releasing their energy and commands to the demon, and ea koetting says in 'works of darkness' that sigils should be burned once the desire has manifested. How can all of these be true at the same time??????? I have had success with sigils and nap, but this is something that i needed done immediately(like 1-2 days) so i turned to goetics and what should i do if i want to dispose of a sigil and make a new one, whether or not the demon carries out my wish? Replies, inputs, comments, criticisms, opinions etc etc welcome.
Allow me to be of assistance to you if I can do so at all here. I would say you need a solid mastery of one particular mode of evocation that you ought to work on, such as memorizing and integrating the Goetic style of evoking spirits, or Chapter 5 of Evoking Eternity by Koetting which proposes it's own system. A system is what most people lack, and also knowledge of how subtle but intense these workings can be. Take more practice that's centered around a SYSTEM of evocation and more practice with trance work, and definitely do more preparation and immersion in the entity you wish to call up in the day or so beforehand.
Don't just go throwing everything together at the last minute and banging out a ritual in haste and wondering why you failed to get a spirit or your goal - it's because you didn't make the connection with it to begin with but merely went through the MOTIONS of a ritual. All of these things, take heed of them.
I sometimes skip banishing altogether and slide right into an empowered state and this is fine because the sigil consecration is more than enough from an empowered state to call in this spirit. Of course you will obtain better results formally in many cases however.
I don't doubt that. Still, I wouldn't skip banishing before and after were I a beginner as this (until you replace it with something) triggers the beginning and end of your ritual just like the consecrated circle is your room where anything can happen. Soon I feel you'll be able to realize ritual is more than an intent hardly held or felt paired with some gestures and movements.
Something should be happening inside, and you should be activating these higher bodied and senses from trance states you are expected to have developed already as evocation and particularly physical evocation is advanced work. Moreover don't bother trying to change the smoke as that is telekenesis. Try using the smoke as something to gaze through like with a mirror, rather, if you want to use incense smoke that kinda way.
I should tell you a story about the time I didn't sense that I actually got around to a Shem angel and went through with it anyway and the ritual was fulfilled in a most shocking way. I randomly got $15 worth of free herb at a dispensary a few minutes later as I sometimes do walking astral evocations or invocations certain entities. I had also bought $10 dollars worth with money my friend had randomly given me the other day just before that for 'cab money home'. Though he insisted that I take it though I said I don't need it.
Let's just say I was left that day with no doubt as to my request being fulfilled though I wasn't sure I was in contact or not due to I suppose, lack of concentration on the angel. Still there were other big signs as I said which aren't as fun to mention as money appearing and growing by itself into more.
Things that really made my spine shiver as I got these signs that an unthinkably powerful Mercury zone/Shem angel just responded to my calling almost instantly. I'm just saying there's very little point in calling the thing if you can't sense when it gets there. This doesn't help your belief that the thing is going to be taken care of and adds to fear and doubt. If you were even able to do anything magickal to begin with. One of the merits of physical evocation is that done right you are almost certain to have contacted forces you believe can effect the situation at hand in the ways you desire. Again presupposing you had the know-how to trace their sigil for a day or do something else to meditate on the energies you wish to evoke. Without a period of immersion you're just calling on a veritable stranger to your subconscious mind and how it 'knows someone', even if you can sense the energies of the sigil consciously.
Which process will be made many times more conceptually hard to approach without undertaking any such said immersion.
